Whilst the Town Team are not given to making political comment, it was noted by many that last week the list of possible cuts that were considered included withdrawing funding for the localism service.

Working Group Chairs met last night, as they do monthly to update on progress, and all agreed that we haven’t done enough to make clear what a debt we owe to Cornwall Council officers, largely in the Localism team.

Steve Foster, Liskeard and Looe Community Network Manager and Guy Thomas, Town Centre Specialist in particular, continue to provide invaluable help to Liskeard Town Team. They ensure relevant expertise across the council is linked with the aspirations of our group of community volunteers.

The support and light touch guidance received without heavy-handed interference, is much appreciated. It enables the Town Team to progress your ideas and maintain a genuine community led project.

Undoubtedly Cornwall Council has faced and will continue to face some tough decisions over spending. But where the localism team is concerned, the Town Team working group chairs sincerely hope this won’t be a case of not knowing what you’ve got till its gone.
