Liskeard Town Team have well and truly hit the ground running after the Christmas period and there’s loads being planned for the coming months! Let’s make this the very best year we’ve seen yet folks.
Thank you to everyone who designed, distributed and acted on the Christmas Shop Liskeard materials. Hearing reports from some that takings were definitely up from last December.
And big congratulations to all at The Bookshop for featuring in the Guardian’s piece about the UK’s best independent bookshops.
The Love Liskeard vouchers issued as prizes for the photographic competition were all spent before Christmas. Look out for more opportunities to win one for yourself. Would you like us to produce them on a larger scale to use as gifts for your friends and family?
A full list of happenings is on its way but in the meantime, to whet your appetite:
* Keep an eye on the old Splinter shop in Fore Street. The Christmas photos were superb but there’s some new and very different art heading that way very soon.
* Scribble down February 8th for ‘Bling, rings & things’ the next evening market just before Valentine’s Day. Perfect for treats for that special someone; who could of course be you!
* The Town Team will be supporting Vital Spark in February and March with the Style About Town programme. This little festival has grown over the last few years into something that is hooking in big names. Have you spotted that Kneehigh’s Anna Maria Murphy is sharing her skills in a writers workshop on February 2nd?
* The town will be taking part in ‘Enjoy an Independent Easter’ over the school holidays, a national campaign that encourages us all to spend more with local independent businesses. It’s fun for all the family and there’s prizes!
‘For every £1 spent locally, around 50-70p recirculates in the local economy. For the same £1 spent out of town or online only 5p trickles back to the local community’
That’s surely worth thinking about?
