The Big Draw hits town

Stuart House invites anyone of any age to pick up a pencil and join The Big Draw on Saturday 27 October between 10am and 3pm.

The Big Draw is the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It has grown into a month-long festival throughout October all over the UK. And Stuart House is one of the few places in Cornwall to take part.

Liskeard in line?

The theme this year is to draw your town – which is timely as Liskeard searches for its special identity as a Portas Pilot town. Paul Klee’s ‘taking a line for a walk’ is perhaps the most famous statement about drawing ever made. Stuart House invites you to take a line for a walk around Liskeard, to describe an aspect of the town.

You might choose to draw one of the year’s highlights – such as the Olympic flame coming through the town – or any of Liskeard’s unique features or characters. Or you could take lines for a walk in architecture, a jog in nature, or for a dance to capture a performance. And if none of that takes your fancy, just do your own thing!

Local artists will be there to help: it’s free and no experience or qualification is required except the courage to have a go!
