News just in from Mary Portas

The working groups met tonight and did some fantastic work, despite the heat. Pages will appear here for each of the bid themes so that you can keep up to date, but please bear with us and allow a couple of days for turning this around!

Optomen TV told us tonight that Mary’s team have looked at the plans we are making and have come up with their own plan to fit with one of the working groups from the bid, details below. Exciting stuff! Lin Moore is your local contact if you want more information about this.

Mary her team and Lin are working towards securing a number of empty units in Liskeard’s town centre for 3 to 12 months for free.

She would like to hear from anyone who might be interested in setting up a shop or trying out a new idea.

If you have a friend who makes dresses at home and sells them on eBay, maybe he or she would be interested in a shop on Fore Street? Perhaps you know someone who teaches Yoga and needs a studio space? Or a knitting group who want to pool their resources and sell their wares in a shop/cafe?

We’ll consider any and all ideas, from traditional shops to social hubs; we want the high street to serve the community.

So if you have a fledgling business, work-shop, swap shop, bingo night, youth centre, fitness class, nursery, please get in touch.

All ideas are welcome, this is still very much work-in-progress, but we want to gauge potential interest and would love to hear from anyone who might like to take on, or share a unit.

If you would like to know more, send us your details along with a brief outline of your idea.

This is the cake team who helped keep everything going tonight. Thank you! Measure and Learn group are now considering changing their plans to do footfall counts to measuring waist lines…
